With »Breaking up Bach«, Ensemble Resonanz explores the idea of departure—artistically, biographically, and in form. At the heart of the programme lies the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, whose works are not treated as monuments, but as living material: questioned, refracted, and reimagined. In this process, composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina and Caroline Shaw emerge as distinctive voices of the modern age, each engaging with Bach’s legacy in strikingly personal and transformative ways.
