Saskia Ogilvie

Saskia Ogilvie was born in 1966 and took her first cello lessons when she was eight. She began preparatory studies with Prof. Klaus Storck at the Alanus University in Alfter (Bonn) and continued her studies with Prof. Martin Ostertag in Karlsruhe as well as with Iwan Monighetti and Reinhard Latzko in Basel, from where she graduated in 1985.

She was a member of the Anton-Webern-Ensemble in Vienna under Claudio Abbado, and from 1992-1994 was principal cellist of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester under Michael Gielen, Sir Neville Marriner, Riccardo Chailly and Claudio Abbado. In 1995, she founded the Ensemble Florestan and joined Ensemble Resonanz as principal cellist in 1997.
