“I alone have the key to this savage parade.” For the season opening of Vanitears, Offbeat collides with a multilingual harbor reading in GOLEM by the Found In Translation Collective. Anchoring the evening is Rimbaud’s Illuminations,in a setting by Benjamin Britten. The writer Jan Kuhlbrodt will read from his newest work, inspired by Rimbaud and in dialogue with Britten’s Cello Suite. He’ll be joined by Tomás Cohen of Chile, who will read his poem “Ex-Voto” to music from Bartók’s Violin Duets—another lyric work that exudes musicality. An evening of chamber music, poetry, languages, and tasty drinks.
