journey to a new world

Twinkle Concert XL by Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

Antonia's home is destroyed by war and in flames - she has to say goodbye to her friend the goose - and leaves her home. A journey to a new world begins, that leads from the Hamburg Central Station over Atlantic storms to the lands of groove, ragtime and freedom. Fortunately she finds someone to help her get along in the jungle. What does homesickness sound like? And a new world?

Without words but a story in the music itself: the sound of chicken, cows, the horn of the boat, Vivaldi and Dvoráks American String Quartet. Ensemble-violinist David-Maria Gramse created a journey of sounds and mixes all electronics live on stage. Visual Artist Katrin Bethge builds fantastic installations for the Concert Hall and the concept was developed by Luxembourgian artist Dan Tanson.
